How to change your beavertail lock FOR AN M&P 2.0 APEX Kit

The system to secure the firearm in the chassis relies on the beavertail/backstrap area of your gun. For this reason, you MUST use the โ€œMโ€ Medium size backstrap with your APEX kit. The marking can be found in the following locations:

META Tactical supports 4 different barrel sizes of the M&P 2.0 series: 3.6โ€, 4โ€, 4.25โ€ (also the 4.6โ€ threaded barrel), and the 5โ€. Below is a list of which beavertail inserts to use for what frame and barrel you have.

Use the โ€œsub-compactโ€ beavertail for 3.6โ€ barrels + subcompact frameUse the โ€œcompactโ€ beavertail for 3.6โ€,4โ€& 4.6โ€ (threaded)  barrels + compact frameUse the โ€œfullโ€ beavertail for 4.25โ€,4.6โ€ (threaded) & 5โ€  barrels + full-size frame

Removal and Installation of the Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 Beavertail is illustrated below.

Remove the Trigger Pin of the ApexPress Door Button and hold while rotating the rear door upwards
Remove the Large Bolt in the front / middle of the rear door and loosen the large bolt behind itRemove the existing Beavertail and Carrier by pulling it straight out of the slot of the rear door.  Change the Beavertail by inserting the desired beavertail into the front of the carrier. Simply re-insert into the rear door slot and bolt back in.
